Credits
The following people have assisted in the creation of this site by providing GPS coordinates:
- Jim Rattray & Fred Rattray (BPC) - Radio locations and other fixes around Gaping Gill
- Chris Camm (White Rose) - Langstrothdale entrances
- John Gardiner (www.braemoor.co.uk) - Main Gaping Gill entrances

Many thanks to them for providing the data and giving permission to use it.
The remaining data is derived from the published map references in the local caving guidebooks:
- Northern Caves, Volumes 1, 2 and 3 - Dalesman Books
- Selected Caves of Britain and Ireland - Des Marshal, Donald Rust
- Not for the Faint Hearted - Mike Cooper
- SRT Rigging Guide - Dave Elliot, Dick Lawson
- CNCC Eco Resin Rigging System, Volumes 1, 2 and 3 - www.cncc.org.uk
- CNCC Rigging Guide, Volume 1 (New Series) - www.cncc.org.uk
- CDG Northern Sump Index - Cave Diving Group
- Northern Caving - The Council of Northern Caving Clubs Handbook
- Caves and Karst of the Yorkshire Dales - BCRA
Some of these essential guides are currently out of print. It is my hope that this site might help to sustain interest in Yorkshire's caves so that the guidebooks can be updated and republished.
Surveys
Craven Pothole Club, Red Rose Cave and Pothole Club, Bradford Pothole Club, Northern Cave Club, Lancaster University Speleological Society and Yorkshire Subterranean Society have made their back catalogues of surveys available under a Creative Commons License. The University of Leeds Speleological Association have done likewise, with a few exceptions for surveye that are still in-print and available to purchase.
The Wide Area Overlay
The compilation survey of the caves of Ingleborough, Nidderdale, Stump Cross and parts of Wharfedale is based on original surveys and earlier compilations by the following organisations: BCRA, BPC, BSA, CDG, CPC, ECC, HWCPC, KCC, LUCC, LUSS, NCC, NPC, NRCG, PCC, ULSA, WRPC, YRC and others.
The level of detail has been deliberately kept low for copyright reasons. If permission can be obtained from the copyright owners then the original surveys will be included in full detail.
