Deep Zoom

'Deep Zoom' is a new technology from Microsoft for viewing very large, high resolution images through the Web. Here are some samples:

SilverLight Version

PUSA Gaping Gill (1966) 600dpi 90.5 megapixels

CRG T9-2 Ease Gill (1967) 300dpi 92.7 megapixels

MMMMC Ireby - Rift - Low Douk (2010) 14 megapixels

MMMMC Ireby - Rift - Large - Low Douk (Dec 2010) 121 megapixels

If you haven't already got it, you will need to install the SilverLight plugin to access the above links. SilverLight is available for most browsers on Windows and Mac. It is quick and easy to install, similar to the Adobe Flash plugin.

SeaDragon-Ajax Version

If you are on Linux, or if you can't install the SilverLight plugin for any other reason, then you can use the SeaDragon-Ajax version of Deep Zoom. It is a lot slower and not as smooth as the SilverLight version, but it is still quite usable.
